Travel Kyoto Without Your Suitcase

Store or send luggage before stepping onto crowded transport.

Large suitcases make Kyoto harder for you and for local commuters. The city promotes hands-free travel with station storage, hotel delivery, and same-day options.

If you arrive early enough, send luggage to your accommodation and begin sightseeing with a day bag. Current Hands Free Kyoto guidance says some station-to-hotel delivery services require procedures before 14:00. Availability depends on the accommodation and provider.

If delivery does not fit your plan, use a coin locker or staffed storage counter. For normal luggage forwarding between cities, allow at least a day unless the provider explicitly offers same-day service.

Keep medication, passports, chargers, valuables, and one change of clothes with you.
